Polyvore Set

This set was inspired by a book I recently looked at in Barnes & Noble: Nylon's Street Style or Street View, something like that anyway. It had a bunch of pictures of people's styles in major cities around the world. Cool book.

Front Yard Gift

This morning while I was practicing violin, my mom came into the room to tell me that there was a baby deer in our ditch. I came out, equipped with the camera, of course. I knew the shots would be best in b&w before I took them, just to boast a little bit. Black and white makes everything look so serious. By the way, the deer was alive. I have a picture of it mid-blink. xP

We thought it was hurt/sick, judging by its really awkward position and lack of movement. After I left for school my mom tried to call someone to help, but apparently the guy she contacted said he would give her another number but never called back. It all turned out well though - my mom said that it had its head up by the time the trash collectors came around, and by the time I got back from school it was gone.

Summery Day

p

It was cloudy for most of the day - it actually rained - and then suddenly when I looked out the window it was totally sunny and beautiful. I decided I needed to take a few pictures (I ended up with 31). It's all green and gold and dappled - this kind of day really reminds me of deep summer in Ithaca when we all just hang out inside with the AC on, or when we take a trip to the Cornell Plantations in July or August and spend time sketching under this giant, really old tree. Sadly, I heard that it became hazardous/too old and they had to remove it; supposedly its stump is still there though.

P.S. - New jewelry pictures should be coming soon!

Spring Pictures

It's kind of strange that I posted these pictures today, since today it was actually rather green and wet and gray - not like these at all. But I guess I felt like I should post them, since I'm pretty proud of how they turned out.

Birthday Poem

For one of my friends' birthday I wrote a poem. This was in line with tradition, because for most birthday parties I go to I try to write something for the person - usually a short story. This started when I accidentally got one friend a book that I had gotten her the previous year; I vowed to make up stories instead of buying them so such a mistake would never happen again. Well here it goes - it was kind of quick, filled with inside jokes and references, and probably not my best work, but whatever.

Close Your Eyes

Crinkle-eyed giggles

Blackberries – the juice stains on her fingertips.

Drops like transparent moons, hanging full on the branches.

Milky seedlings, fuzzy-stemmed, purple-bottomed.

Foil leaves curled fawn-fresh yellow.

Swollen eyed, bare footed

Come to cool our screaming eyes and scrunch our toes in the pale soil

Silver spoons and green earthworms

Rosin smiles

Wide eyed pollen dusted eyelashes

Eyes closed leaning on her shoulder

Gum wrapper cranes pineapples plastic rope

Clear water hands curled hands open in the water

Close your eyes, wonder what she would choose.

Morbid garlic mustard lines

The rich pale yellow.

Cream-Cheese Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes

For Mother's Day I made these cream-cheese-stuffed cherry tomatoes. I was surprised how long and how much work they took. They didn't even look that good, with the stuffing all over their skins and everything...oh well. At least they tasted nice.

Sun! Warmth! Spring?

We went on a walk today. It was so bright and sunny and warm I was wondering whether I really was in Ithaca. Anyway, I brought the camera with me, of course - here are the results.

The eggshell collage was kind of interesting. I like how the atmosphere of each photo entirely changes when it is turned into black & white.

Eye Candy

I don't know why I titled this post "Eye Candy." I think the reason was that the beads I used for the earrings remind me of jolly ranchers.

Admire the ring. This is the first non-Klutz-beaded ring I have made (successfully) EVER. I'm quite proud, even if it's...well, not very useful.

I put the picture of the beads to show that a little bit of goldish-light-green always makes a sea of pale/medium blue pop.

Rainy Walk

I took these pictures today while taking a walk around my neighborhood. I was moping around being sulky before, since - gasp - I had no homework and "nothing to do." Lesson learned - when bored, take a walk.

New Jewelry

I made this necklace and these earrings today. I was very proud of how the wire wrapping for the necklace came out. Both were inspired by Violet Bella. (Hahaha I just realized I'm wearing the necklace right now...)

Note the interesting use of Graduated Tint.
